The Harrison Fest Queens United Nations Pageant will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017. Over twenty queens will participate in the pageant which will be held at the Holy Cross Banquet Annex in Harrison NJ. The pageant brings together contestants who practice together and form friendships and bonds many of which have continued past the event. There is still an opportunity to join the group of contestants. The Pageant is looking for contestants who qualify to represent Italy and/or Scotland. So it in your family history (it can be generations ago) you have someone who immigrated to the United States of American from Jamaica, Japan, Germany, Honduras, India, Italy, and Scotland, you qualify. You must complete an application and show commitment and desire to fully engage in the practice sessions and the pageant. The Queens United Pageant Coordinator, Yanina T. Paz, has been holding training sessions to teach the contestants the various parts of the Pageant and how to built confidence and stage presence. The group is already bonding and building those friendships that continue well beyond the very special event. One of the great websites for New Jersey residents and out of state residents can find a fun activity is the New Jersey Tourism website www.VisitNJ.com
Harrison Fest has been listed on the website for a couple of years and it has helped in getting the word out about our Multicultural Parade and Street Fair.
Harrison Fest wants to thank New Jersey Tourism and the people at the State of New Jersey who work behind the scenes to promote events like Harrison Fest.

The Harrison Fest Committee held a Thank You Sponsors dinner last night to show our appreciation for the Organizations and Companies that lend their financial support to our organization. We thought it appropriate to show our gratitude to those who have for years sponsored the many activities that Harrison Fest does not only in our September weekend Parade and Street Festival but for the Thanksgiving Dinner drive, the Holiday Party of Children & Families, Street Fairs throughout the year, and recently the 4th of July Celebration.
Our goal this year is to support in several ways the organizations that support us and let as many people know who cares for our community with their sponsorship of Harrison Fest. Two months from today, the Opening Day Mass will kick off the Harrison Fest 2017 weekend (September 22nd through September 24th 2017) and a week before that is the Harrison Fest Queens Gala to be held at the Holy Cross Annex Auditorium.
Thank you Sponsors we appreciate all that you do to support Harrison Fest, A Statewide Multicultural Celebration.
On Friday, September 23, 2017, through Sunday, September 24, 2017, the Town of Harrison will be celebrating Harrison Fest and be joined by the Harrison Fest Queens who will hold their Gala Dinner on Friday, September 15, 2017.
If last years successful Harrison Fest, doesn't convince you to come to enjoy the diverse ethnic groups gathered together in a festive weekend with a parade, street festival with vendors, games, DJ and live act and performing artists then we don't know what to say. Last year the Harrison Fest was a spectacular success. This year, it is anticipated that the crowds will be much larger since word has gotten out that it’s the place to have fun and be seen.
On Saturday, September 23, at 12 noon there will be a parade formed by many different ethnic groups, political leaders and community groups including marching bands and floats. There will be the main stage area where following the parade multicultural performing artists and folkloric groups will perform on Saturday, September 23 from 2 pm to 10 pm and on Sunday, September 24 from 1 pm to 5 pm.
Harrison Avenue from Davis Avenue to 2nd Street will be closed to vehicle traffic and turned into a pedestrian mall. On Saturday, September 23, Harrison Avenue will be closed temporarily at Joseph Supor Blvd or approximately 1 hour to allow the Harrison Fest Parade to come off Joseph Supor Boulevard onto Harrison in route to Harrison Town and 2nd Street. Harrison Avenue will remain closed at Davis Avenue during the festival.
